Why Juventus are the most dangerous team in Serie A
Vincenzo Montella has warned his side could have a difficult time keeping their unbeaten start up to date.
The Bianconeri are five points clear at the top of the table with a game in hand on Inter, who were relegated last season.
It’s not just a matter of keeping their foot on the pedal though.
They need to win their remaining four games to keep pace with Inter.
It has been a frustrating run of form for Juventus, who have lost seven of their last nine Serie A games and sit seventh in the table.
They are without their talisman, Simone Zaza, who is out with a thigh injury.
Injury has forced the likes of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Andrea Pirlo, Paulo Dybala and Gonzalo Higuain into the starting XI and it will be tough for Andrea Ranocchia and Claudio Marchisio to maintain their form.
The absence of Simone Zazza, Andrea Ranoccchia, Claudio Aprilisio and Paulo Dycisio means the Bianconeros are in danger of slipping back into the relegation zone.
The only other team in the top 10 is Fiorentina, who are nine points clear of the drop zone, and the Giallorossi are now in the middle of the relegation pack.
There has been talk of Juventus being given a lifeline, but Montella insisted: “It’s impossible.
It’s the same with us, we don’t know if we can stay up or not.”
We are in the relegation battle.
This is the same for us.
We need to stay up.
Montella told Radio Marche – his first game since his appointment on January 1 – that “the future is clear for us”.
There have been a number of positive signs this season.
Juventus have scored five goals in their last four games.
The Giallors are unbeaten in nine league matches and have won three of their past four away matches, including a 4-0 home win over Sassuolo on Sunday.
There is no way Juve are in relegation danger, Montella said.
“They are the biggest club in the world.
We have to stay at the same level as them.
That is the main thing.”
There are some concerns over how much the Biancocelesti can improve their attacking threat, with a loss to Milan on Saturday a massive blow.
A lot has been made of the arrival of Mario Balotelli from AC Milan, who scored the winner in a 3-1 victory over Lazio.
It remains to be seen if the Italian striker can produce as many goals as he did last season, which was his second with Milan.
Mario Balotella scored a goal and created an assist in Lazio’s 4-1 win over Lazios last season article Montella also told reporters: “Mario is a top striker, I know he will get more chances, but it is difficult for him to score goals.”
Juventus have scored a record 14 goals in Serie E this season and they are fifth in the league.
