How to make the most of this month’s free trial on Apple TV
Apple’s new streaming video service has just gone free, meaning you can get in on the action right now by signing up for the trial of the new Apple TV.
As we mentioned earlier this month, the new service comes with a couple of nifty perks.
First, it’s free for new Apple TVs, with the option to pay as you go to watch the new season of Mad Men.
Second, if you subscribe to Apple TV’s “TV Plus” package, you get access to more of the streaming service’s original programming.
The service is a bit pricey at $39.99 per month for the standard set-top box, $69.99 for the 4K Ultra-HD and $99.99/month for the 5K Ultra HD, and the price includes a “special TV Plus” bundle.
That means you get a basic box with four HDMI inputs, three analog inputs, and one digital output, plus the Apple TV app, a streaming movie-watching service, and a video-sharing app.
Apple has not yet officially announced the pricing of the service, but its website states that the basic package will cost $39/month, $79/month with the “TV+” bundle, and $199/month/year with the AppleTV Plus package.
The Apple TV is priced at $149/month (or $149 with the new 4K/5K UltraHD package) and the Apple Cinema Display is $149.99.
You can sign up for a trial of Apple TV on the company’s website now, but you’ll need to sign up first to get the full service.
You can sign in to your Apple TV account with your Apple ID and password, and you’ll get a message saying you’re ready to begin watching the service.
If you’re an Apple TV owner and don’t want to spend the extra $39 for the new streaming service, you can still watch most of the shows and movies that are available on the service right now, just on a different device.
For example, you’ll be able to watch all the latest Disney shows and movie titles on the 4th-generation Apple TV, including the upcoming Frozen movie.
Or, if your AppleTV doesn’t have an HDMI input, you’re still able to stream the entire catalog of Disney, Pixar, and Marvel shows on a 1080p OLED display.
Once you’ve signed up for your trial, you have until June 15 to sign in with your credentials to get a free month of AppleTV and access to some other exclusive content.
