Woman says she has received a transgender health bill in her wallet
SAN ANTONIO — A woman says she’s been charged with theft after receiving a transgender medical bill for $7,000.
An Austin police officer has been placed on administrative leave after receiving the bill in the mail, the Austin American-Statesman reported.
The woman contacted the police to report the theft and said it was the second time in a week that she had received a bill for the bill, according to the newspaper.
“I called the cops because I wanted to make sure the officer was notified that it was a transgender bill and that the police were there,” the woman told the paper.
According to police, the woman was at a bank when a woman came up to her and demanded she give her money, the paper reported.
When she refused, the man pulled her into a van and drove off.
Police say the woman paid the bill for a medical device that was not needed.
No charges have been filed.
